COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Creating opportunities.
Building community.

SCIL develops projects and activities that bring people together, encourage participation and help create a more inclusive community.

OUR COMMUNITY

More than a support service

At SCIL, we believe independent living is about more than the support a person receives. It’s also about having opportunities to connect with others, explore interests, learn new skills and feel part of the community.

Our projects and community activities have grown in response to the needs and interests of the people around us, with inclusion, participation and connection at their heart.

President of Ireland visiting Number 45/Sligo CIL

“Working at Number 45 has been nothing short of a pleasure. I’ve had so many opportunities to learn and grow, from completing courses to meeting all the different people who come into the centre. The CE Scheme has helped me develop my skills, build my confidence and improve my future employment prospects. Number 45 has been a very special place to work, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities I’ve had here.

SW

My time with SCIL gave me valuable experience supporting people with physical and intellectual disabilities in the community. I really enjoyed the one-to-one nature of the work and getting to know each person and their individual needs. The SCIL team were always helpful and supportive, and I also benefited from additional training. During my time with SCIL, I completed my QQI Level 5 in Nursing Studies and gained experience that was invaluable to my career.

SC

Working with SCIL through the CE Scheme gave me the opportunity to work with a variety of people in different settings, develop my skills and work towards my Level 5 qualification. I received all the training I needed and was given great opportunities to learn and progress. The staff were so friendly and helpful and really made me feel supported in my new career. A huge thank you to Celline and all the office staff — you really do go above and beyond, and it was a real joy working with you all
